Substantial progress has been made regarding technical discussions (as previously set out in Our Further Work ), and the project team has been able to make a submission of further and amended information to the Council, which will soon be available to view here. Changes include (for example) minor alterations to the layout to better enable Environment Agency access to the riverbank, improvements to the landscaping scheme and tree strategy, and improvements to the detailed design. More of the front boundary wall is also being retained, and the previously proposed on-street servicing lay-by has been removed with alternative provision being provided within the site. Positive progress has also been made on the sustainable energy strategy.
An addendum to the Planning Statement has been submitted to the Council, setting out all the scheme improvements and the reason for them. The team has also included an assessment of the proposals against the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with ‘strong’ or ‘medium’ contributions being achieved for 14 of the 17 goals, which is a fantastic outcome for a project of this scale.
